“Kyle, seriously, what’s the deal with the werewolf? We don’t really have a lot of other Halloween decorations around. Wolfie will be a bit lonely out there.”

Kyle drops his chin on my shoulder. “Let’s just say I got a good deal on him. Plus, he’ll be real fun come Halloween.” 

Taylor and Connor are suspicious when Kyle drops off a new large lawn ornament, promising a good time. It’s only when the trick-or-treaters turn in for the night that there’s a shift and things get “fun”.

Shift is a Halloween special in the Kyleverse, a series of sentient object romance short stories. Kyle isn’t the main character, but he shows up to help the plot in one way or another. This story contains characters from the main series. For the best experience, it is recommended to read Rake prior to reading Shift, as the main characters are the same.
